Hamta Pass expedition begins from the famous hill station of Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Your first stop will be Chika valley, while travelling from Manali to Chika where you will see evergreen forests of deodars, spruces and fir also numerous Himalayan Villages with wooden houses having slate roofs.
Second phase of Hamta Pass trekking becomes more challenging due to quick altitude gain, Also it is among the prettiest. Here you will encounter slopes covered with different species of colourful wild flowers. On the way, you will cross many little streams until you reach BalukaGhera. Its said that during winters brown bears descend from higher elevations to hibernate in BalukaGhera.
The third part of the expedition involves crossing of the Hamta Pass towards the Chandra Valley. It is also a natural breeding ground for colourful flowers as well as for animals that graze its lush grass during summers. You may also be able to see some snow here as its elevation is quite high, and it experiences cool weather throughout the year. After Passing Hamta Pass you will walk on a comparatively flatter terrain.
On fourth day we trek from Siagoru towards Chatru. This phase of the trail is half easy and half difficult as you cross steep elevations. After reaching at Chatru you can either take transfer to Manali on the same day or move to a serene alpine lake called Chandertaal and reach Manali on next day.
